A movie review is not my forte. But I always have a liking of the new-age movies. When I was growing up, these were typecast as Art Movies. There was a special slot on Sunday afternoon in DD1 for such movies and most of them are award-winning ones. I used to watch them a lot. Many of them in different languages. At that time I was not able to understand the message behind those movies. But I was hooked to them, there was something different in them. They are hatke (different).

Recently I came across a Bollywood movie named “Made In China”. When I watch this movie wearing my product manager hat, it gives me an entirely different perspective.

A very refreshing movie in Indian context and worth watching for product managers. It covers most of the concepts with the unique value proposition, customer journey, empathy, persona, and the fit. As they say “go out of the building” to understand the customer pains. All these concepts are well covered.

Product marketing on target segment, messaging, competitive analysis, positioning, channels, product lunch it embraces everything.

Use of Influencers to get buy-in from investors. How to negotiate with your investors, from raising funds to build networking, you name it and it has the most bases covered. An impactful pitch presented at the end on pain killer and gain creator to impress the jury.

Bollywood movies made in recent times are bringing a new dimension to the audience, they want to experiment without fear of failure. We have many articles, reviews, blogs available on the movies from Hollywood which are definitely must watch for a product manager, so why not have a list from Bollywood.

Here is my top 5 pick

  1. Rocket Singh
  2. Padman
  3. Made in China
  4. Guru
  5. 3 idiots
